Manushi

Manushi is a Trade Union for women domestic workers, Manushi is initiated through

our education and motivation for domestic workers, it had nearly 3000 members from

our working area.

Manushi provide education on women’s rights and workers rights for its members.

Manushi provides trainings to upgrade the skills of women domestic workers.

Manushi functions as a job placement agency, it is also running a catering services

and produces and markets soap and cleaning solutions

Mansushi is involved in advocacy, lobbying and campaigning to regulate the domestic

work

Manushi helps its members to become members of Tamil Nadu Domestic Workers

Welfare Board”

Snehidhi

Snehidhi is an Association for adolescent girls initiated by us in our working area, it

has nearly 3000 members.

Snehidhi Provides life skill and sexuality education for adolescent girls

Snehidhi educates and motivates adolescent girls to involve in community

development activities.

Snehidhi provides vocational skill training like computer skill and dress making, it

also provides career guidance for it members.

We have created a website www.snehidhi.org for adolescent girls we are also

bringing out a newsletter “snehidhi”.

Educating and organizing single women

From our experience we learned that single women’s problems are different and they need special attention, so we have initiated specific programmes to address single women’s issues and empower them. We have initiated local level single women’s self help groups that serves as a forum to share their feelings and experiences. We are also helping them to become economically independent through vocational skill training and loans. We are involved in advocacy and campaigning to educate the public and also influence the policy makers to bring out special policy and programmes for single women’s empowerment.

Advocacy, Lobbying and Campaigning for Women’s Rights

We are involved in various campaigns to achieve human rights for all women, We have been campaigning

to eliminate violence against women.

Support Service For NGO's

We are organizing training programmes on Women's rights for other NGO workers. We

also bring out documents on women's right and share it with other NGOs.

We are providing consultancy services for NGOs in areas of organization development,

gender and development, ICT for development

We serve as the state secretariat for “Tamilnadu Primary School Improvement

Campaign- TanPIC” a state level network of NGOs involved in improving the quality

of Primary education.

Tsunami Rehabilitation work

We have been involved in Tsunami rehabilitation activities in 13 fishing villages 7 in Chennai city area and 6 villages in Edaikazhinadu Panchayath particularly among women and children. We are helping women to rebuild their livelihood sources. We are providing life skill and sexuality education for adolescent girls. Now we are introducing alternative income generation sources like Seaweed cultivation, solar fish dryer, Spirulina Cultivation, Village information centres.

Volunteer opportunities

We need volunteers to mange our campus at Paniyur village. In the campus Computer

training and dress making training is conducted for adolescent girls. We are planning

to initiate a handmade soap making unit and also raise nursery in the campus. Anyone

who is interested in simple village life and have some skill and knowledge of income

generation programmes contact us.

We are also looking for volunteers to help us in using ICT-Information and

Communication Technology like video, computer, cell phone for women’s

development.

We need volunteers in fundraising

** We prefer women volunteers, who can stay with us for minimum two months.
